Statement from Melbourne Cricket Club spokesperson:
“The images projected onto an external wall of the MCG before the State of Origin game on Wednesday June 26 were carried out by a group of individuals unaffiliated with the MCC.
“According to the police, it is believed four individuals attended Yarra Park and used a projector to display these images onto the side of the stadium near Gate 2B. Police intervened and moved them from the site.
“We are now working closely with police and our security team to ensure that these incidents do not reoccur and are reviewing our security protocols.
“We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all our visitors and regret any distress this incident may have caused.”
